Gr 5 Class News

We have had some exciting times in 5th grade, and are getting ready to embark on more!

Conferences will begin the week of March 27th, if you have not yet signed up for a conference, please contact Ms. Reilly or Ms. Visocky.

Students are wrapping up social studies and are getting ready to begin an exciting new science program.  This is a pilot program that approaches science in a hands-on, question based way.

Students are also working hard on the fifth grade play.  If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to Ms. Caro.

Don't forget, PARCC will begin the first week of April.

MATH -  We are about to begin Unit 5 in Journal 2, as we continue to learn more about fractions and how to complete basic operations with them.

LITERACY - As we near the end of  our Non-Fiction, we are working to complete our reading of the Great American biography.  After note-taking and research, we are working on organizing our information into a composition to highlight the life and achievements of these great people.

SOCIAL STUDIES - Our unit of study on the the Westward Expansion will be starting soon.
SCIENCE - We have completed our exciting adventure of preparing for and visiting Buehler Challenger Center.  Students are now writing their "Experience Booklet"  which is due February 3, 2017.  Students were given a guide for organization of booklet on January 17, 2017.
